From Malaga airport, follow the signs to Malaga, but stay in the inside (right) lane and look out for the sign to Motril. This is the E15/N-340, Autovia Mediterraneo, direction Almería. Stay on this main coastal road through to Nerja, Almuñecar. After Almuñecar you have about 20 mins. to the house, always staying on this road. Look out for the large Hotel Salobreña on the right-hand side. It can be recognised by the blue neon HOTEL sign and there is a slip road leading to the hotel. Having passed the hotel, you will see Meson Duran – it used to be a posh local restaurant. Slow down and look out for a white unusual building on the right-hand side called Pargo Villas. (You may not see it clearly in the dark, in which case, look for a group of trees by the right hand side after the restaurant. Start to indicate right. In the dark you will see the ‘STOP’ sign in your headlights.

A sharp turn on the right is sign-posted Costa Alguilera Mar. Turn in here. The road hairpins left and then right. Go steady! You will see some houses on the right in front of you, and a sign Cala Medina. The house is just below this sign, on the right. Park your car in front of number 4 garage, leaving space for other cars to pass.

Walk back to the sign Cala Medina. Go up the steps. At the top of the steps, turn to your left. You will see number 4. You can bring the car to the foot of the steps for unloading, but please park in the garage when you have finished. Thanks! (You will find the garage door leading to the house locked on the inside when you arrive. It can be left open whilst you use the house, but please lock on inside when you finally leave).

From Almeria follow the road signs to Motril, Malaga. Pass the turning to Motril. Pass Salobrena, staying on the N340. (Might take you one and a half hours?) You should look out for a Muebles Medina sign in blue neon to your right and Inmobiliaria Lingwood by its side. (This is useful if you have any problems…they are the people we bought the house from and will help you if you ask for Janet Parker…but don’t go before 10-00am!)

Look out for Hotel Salobreña on the main road to your left. It is signposted “Hotel***” – the hotel is on the left, but you must always cross the road using the designated crossing for road traffic. You are going to cross the road and turn round and go back the way you came for a short distance. Pass Meson Duran (see above). Pass Pargo Villas. Slow right down and indicate right. Follow instructions as above.

Note that each time you return from Salobreña, you will have to pass the entrance road to the house and go as far as the hotel in order to comply with Spanish road rules.
